Primary Chinese Tuition in Singapore (P1 to P6)

Strong foundations.
Confident expression.

小学华文

A structured pathway connecting school achievement with genuine language confidence.

FIND THE DIFFICULTY BEHIND THE PRACTICE

Build the skills behind better answers.

读得懂,写得出,说得清

Learners build the vocabulary, comprehension, oral and composition skills needed to progress steadily from Primary 1 through PSLE.

“My child knows the words but struggles with comprehension.”

Reading support connects vocabulary, the meaning of the passage and the exact requirements of the question.

“Composition always starts with ‘I don’t know what to write’.”

Guided discussion and planning help turn ideas into a clear sequence before developing sentences and details.

“We practise a lot, but the same mistakes keep returning.”

Identifying whether the difficulty is understanding, expression or application gives practice a clearer purpose.

LEARNING PATHWAY

Understand words in context and use them accurately in speech and writing, with Pinyin and recognition support where needed.

Reading comprehension

Identify the main idea, connect clues in the text and develop relevant, complete answers.

Composition development

Plan a storyline, organise paragraphs and add meaningful actions, feelings and details.

Oral expression and PSLE preparation

Practise clear, connected responses and bring language skills together for school assessments and PSLE preparation.

A CLASSROOM EXAMPLE

Give a simple sentence more meaning.

从一句话,发展成有内容的表达

Instead of adding impressive phrases at random, a learner can build a scene through relevant detail.

Start with an idea

“小明很开心。” What happened to make him feel happy?

Add a reason and action

“看到自己种的小苗长出了新叶,小明高兴地叫妈妈来看。”
“When Xiao Ming saw that the seedling he had planted had grown new leaves, he happily called his mother over to take a look.”

Review the meaning

Read it again. Does the detail fit the story? Can the reader understand the character’s reaction?

Illustrative writing exercise, not a student work sample or a promised result. Difficulty varies by school level.

LEARNING AND FEEDBACK

Look beyond the final mark.

A useful progress conversation looks at how the child approaches a task as well as the finished answer. AiWen’s course features include feedback after each lesson.

Explains an answer using clues in the passage

Organises ideas before writing

Uses familiar vocabulary more independently

PRIMARY CHINESE · FAQs

Questions about this programme.

Speak with our team about your child’s individual needs.

How do lessons differ across P1 to P6?

Lower primary builds recognition, vocabulary, sentences and reading habits. Middle primary develops comprehension and composition. Upper primary brings these skills together with more demanding tasks and PSLE preparation.

Start with an assessment so the team can understand the gaps and recommend suitable support. A school level alone does not show whether vocabulary, reading or expression needs the most attention.

Yes. AiWen’s primary programme includes vocabulary, reading comprehension, oral expression and composition, with a different emphasis at each stage.

The most useful priorities depend on the learner. Discuss recurring mistakes and difficult components with the teacher so revision strengthens understanding and application, alongside answering techniques.

Individual coaching may suit a learner who needs concentrated support in a particular area or a different pace. Discuss both options during the assessment rather than deciding from school results alone.
